All candidates must submit an application using two online applications. The following must be received for applications to be considered complete:
- Completed Online Application
- $35 Graduate School Application Fee – The Graduate School will not process or review an application without a non-refundable $35 application fee. The simplest way is to make an electronic payment using a credit card at the appropriate link on the Graduate School application website. Applicants also may elect to send a personal check, money order, or cashier’s check payable to the University of Tennessee.
- Official Transcripts – Transcrips in English are required from the registrar of each university or college attended for both undergraduate and graduate work. Transcripts must be official copies sent directly from the issuing school to the University of Tennessee Graduate School. For most universities, these are requested via the school’s website. If not, this site offers a transcript request form (link to pdf form) that may be used to request transcripts.

- Completed Aerospace and Defense MBA Application
- The Aerospace and Defense MBA program online application is offered to make the application process easy and convenient. To start an application, click on the link above to create a new account. A password will be sent to you by e-mail providing access to the online application site. Until the application is submitted, the applicant can save the work and return to work on it over several sessions, as needed. The application is not available for review by program leaders until an applicant hits “submit.” Please carefully read the instructions on the site, for an application can only be submitted one time. Updates to any information already submitted must be done by immediatley notifying the Aerospace and Defense MBA program office.
- Two Recommendations – These are completed by two managers in the applicant’s organization. These managers should know the applicant well and be able to speak for the organization’s support of the applicant’s participation in the program. The Aerospace and Defense MBA program secures this input by sending an e-mail with a cover letter and standard survey to managers identified by the applicant. The e-mail survey allows senior-level leaders to provide specific recommendations and assessments with minimum effort.
- Telephone Interview with the Director of the Aerospace and Defense MBA Program - All applicants are interviewed by the director of the Aerospace and Defense MBA Program. Candidates are welcome to contact the program staff at any point during the admission process to ask questions or learn more about the program.
- Exceptions - The Air Force traditionally sponsors almost half of the students in each Aerospace and Defense MBA class, sending students from across the Air Force acquisition and sustainment community. Students selected for Air Force funding submit detailed applications to Air Force selection officials and undergo rigorous screening and selection processes. Due to the time required for that process and the highly competitive nature of their student selection process, students selected by Headquarters Air Force (the SAF/AQ office) for full- Air Force funding are not required to complete the Aerospace and Defense MBA online application. Instead, these students forward their Air Force nomination packages, complete the University of Tennessee Graduate School application, and complete a customized (abbreviated) Aerospace and Defense MBA application. Air Force personnel (military and civilian) selected for this program should contact the Aerospace and Defense MBA program office as soon as they learn of their selection to learn about the abbreviated application process.
