Application Process

Application Steps and Forms

All qualified Aerospace & Defense MBA candidates are required to complete two separate applications:  a University of Tennessee Graduate School application and an Aerospace & Defense MBA application.

Office of Graduate Admissions

Apply to University of Tennessee Office of Graduate Admissions. They will notify you when they have completed processing your application.

Aerospace & Defense MBA application

 Please follow this process*:
  1. Complete our A&D MBA online application (Applicant Information, Educational History, Work Experience, Recommendations, Admissions Essays, and Requirements).
  2. You will be asked to submit the names of two managers in your organization who will be providing your letters of recommendation. These managers should know you well and should have the authority to endorse your participation in the program (see our Employer Sponsorship page for more information). Managers will be sent an email via the application system which contacts a link to the recommendaiton form (PDF format), and instructions for completing and returning to us.
  3. If applicable, have your GMAT scores sent directly to our program office:

  4. Schedule a telephone interview with the Aerospace & Defense MBA program director, Andrew White, by calling 1-800-AEROMBA (800-237-6622) or sending an e-mail to andrew.white@tennessee.edu.
*The United States Air Force traditionally sponsors almost half of the students in each Aerospace & Defense MBA class. If you're a student from the U.S. Air Force acquisition and sustainment community, you'll submit a detailed applications packet to Air Force selection officials and include the one-page Aerospace & Defense MBA Application for USAF. Once you're accepted to attend the program by SAF/AQ, you'll complete the University of Tennessee Graduate School application and fill out an abbreviated version of the online A&D MBA application. All Air Force personnel selected for the program (military and civilian) should contact the Aerospace & Defense MBA program office as soon as they learn of their selection. Application Deadlines

For each program year beginning in January, the priority application deadline is October 1 of the preceding year; applications submitted after that date will be reviewed and students admitted on the basis of available space only. Note: international students must apply by June 15.
